    The Rules of Good Writing

    	The Rules

    	#1
The most important fact to accept when deciding to be a writer is that
writing is work. Serious writers do not grab a minute here and there to
put their masterpiece together, they dedicate themselves to the task
and make a full and constant commitment. Above all else, their writing
will take precedence over everything. Forget mowing the lawn, doing
the dishes, cooking a meal when an idea starts to form. Drop everything
    	and pick up the pen.

    	#2
Write something everyday. Set yourself a time to do it and stick to it. Even
if you do nothing more than sit and doodle on the page, it is a time you must
allow yourself. Make it a habit to sit there at that time, regardless. Productivity
    	will come.

    	#3
If an idea forms in the middle of the night, don't lay their forcing yourself to
remember it, and certainly do not turn over and go back to sleep. Get up
and write it down. Keep a pen and notepad beside your bed for this purpose.

    	#4
Unfortunately, writers are usually notoriously bad sleepers so be prepared
to work well into the midnight hours, particularly if that is when the ideas come
best or that is the quietest time to work. It may also be the only time your family
does not call on you to perform your seemingly endless duties.
